We got to take a mini vacation right in the middle of September to Utah for a Bullock family reunion. This was awesome because I've always wanted to take the kids to Zion National Park and we would get to see family too! It was a lot of driving to get there and back but the memories in between were well worth it.
On day one we hiked the Narrows, it was so cold at first but once the sun came out we were good. Ethan and Abbey were tough to wade though the chest deep waters and not cry about it! We couldn't have done it without our prepared guides Megan and Todd, thanks guys! They provided everything that we forgot to bring! It was also great to hike with Dallas Dad and uncle Doug who we hadn't seen in a long time. These "older" men left us in the dust most of the time and didn't hesitate to jump right into the freezing cold waters! I want to be like that when I'm their age (which isn't very old at all!).
The next day we got up super early to hike Angels Landing. Abbey almost gave into the temptation to stay in bed and sleep instead of hike, but after it was all said and done she was so glad she came! We were on top of this amazing mountain by 8:30 before all the crowds so we had the whole place to ourselves! It's a little scary to look at how steep those cliffs are but I was too busy taking pictures and catching my breath to realize that we were in any danger! That elevation climb of 1400 feet in 2.5 miles was kind of a challenge when you're used to living at 400 ft. above sea level! I guess it's these hard "climbs" in life that are the most rewarding anyway. Thanks for the journey guys!
Also in this slide show are some pictures of the fun pool at the cabin we stayed in, and pictures of our family hike to Emerald Pools. It was nice to do one hike that even the little kids could do and were grateful to Nana who watched them for us while we did the hard hikes. It was also so great to see Dallas' Grammy who is our only Great Grandparent left. She's so kind and it's always such a joy to be around her.
**Fair warning, there are a lot of pictures in this slide show but if you endure it you'll see the beauty of Angels Landing! Persevere people! **
I wish we could do this every year! Miss you guys already!
