The winters in Texas are so great. They are mild enough that on most days the kids can be outside doing this in shorts.
But occasionally we get a change.
Last winter when it snowed for a day here we told our kids to really enjoy it because it's very rare that Austin gets snow. But one year later here we are with the same cold surprise!
This is what the kids have been doing all day today:
It's snowed early this morning and the kids got up at 6:30 just bursting with excitement like it was Christmas. They canceled school so the kids were out the door by 8:00a.m. throwing snowballs, building snowmen, making snow angels and Fa-reeeeezing their cans off. We don't have the best snow gear for them since we don't need it very often, so they had to come in for hot chocolate by the fire quite often to thaw out.
Here's Miah making a snow ball, although I don't know how she can see with all that hair in her face. We just didn't take the time to do anyone's hair today so this is what you get!
Abbey blocking the sun and having so much fun!
Ellie was struggling a bit with her ear warmers:0) Do you love her mismatching gloves?
The snow is fun for a day or two, but I'll be happy to get our 70 degree temps back in another few days. I'll admit I've turned into a cold wimp, I spent most of today sitting by the fire thinking of all my family and friends who experience this kind of weather for 3 months straight in Utah and Colorado. How do you all do it? Oh wait I used to do it too, but I sure don't miss it!
