Well we did it. We moved. The last 7 months were really hard, our house took much longer to sell than we'd hoped, Dallas had to live in Utah without us for 4 months, we packed up in June and left it to sell empty so we could make the trek out to Utah to stay with Dallas' parents for a few months. On the way to Utah our car broke down (without Dallas) but we were saved by a really nice man named Wayne in Abernathy, Texas who fixed it! When we got to Utah Ellie got Pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital for 3 days on Oxygen and IV antibiotics, our dog got lost twice and did I mention that our house hadn't sold yet? Well, I must have really needed to learn patience and some other life lessons because seriously, that's kind of a lot! To make a long story short, our house did go under contract at the end of July right in time for us to move into Dallas' Aunt and Uncle's house that they had offered to us since they were moving up to Midway. Huge blessing even though it was depressing to have lost so much money on that house, at least we're done with it! I love my new house so much and know that this is where we are supposed to be. God is so good. His plan is way better than my plan and once Dallas and I put this move into His hands things worked out. It was reconfirmed to me that the things that really matters in life are your family and your faith. If all the worldly possessions were taken away then we'd be OK as long as we have our family and our faith. Good friends are pretty fabulous to have as well and I am missing my Texas friends pretty bad, so here's some pictures of a few of them. I'm kicking myself for not getting more pictures of certain families so please know I love you even if your picture isn't here!!!!
First here's Miah's school class saying good-bye to here, she's the little squished head in the middle:)
This was our last great boat adventure with the Heatons. We are going to miss that boat and that family!!
Two blondies:) My good friend Jessica Law
This amazing friend threw us a going away party in her backyard and has become another grandmother to our kids. We have spent Christmas', Easters, 4th of July's with the her, so many good memories. We love you Julie Jackson!!
Heather and Betsy!
Alisa and Lori!
My soccer buddy Emily
This amazing quilt was made by my good friend Mindy Mickelson who I didn't get a picture of (grrrr). She collected t-shirts with anything that had to do with Round Rock, Austin, or the kids schools and made it into this quilt. I can't tell you how touched I was to receive this and it will be a treasure to our family forever. The back is the Texas flag in fleece, I will wrap myself in it when I'm freezing in the cold Utah winters, missing the Texas warm winters! Thanks again Mindy, you're my hero!!
The night before we left our good neighbors brought us our favorite treat, Kawaii's shaved ice. We'll miss you Cheryl, Joe and Jayden!
And here's the loading of the truck. Ethan was a huge help! He and Dallas got all the boxes loaded themselves before the men showed up to load the heavy stuff.
Proof that Abbey helped too! Miah was sick that day so she got a free pass to the couch, until it got loaded into the truck that is:)
Lots of saran wrap, bubble rap and boxes to protect our things!
We had so many great friends show up to help load the big stuff, thank you to Bishop Mickelson, Brother Hatch, Brother Creer, Brother Asay, Brother Leauanae, Brother Heaton, Brother Glazier, Brother Larkin, Brother Bradley, Brother Jackson, Brother Law, Brother Jenkins and probably a few more who I'm forgetting.
Our friends the Hatch's brought us pizza for dinner that night (and chairs to sit on since we had none), thank you thank you! We were shown so much kindness while we lived in the Walsh Ranch Ward, that's why it was sooo hard to leave. Such good people.
Miah and her buddy Marian (and Millie)
Ethan and Harrison
Audrey made this yummy and beautiful Texas flag fruit pizza and gave us this bat globe! It snows bats on the Austin skyline and plays deep in the heart of Texas, love it!!
And now here we are in Utah. It's been so fun to be by our family again, the summer has been packed with fun things (I'll post summer pics later). We are finally feeling settled, I love having a basement with lots of storage so if I don't want to unpack a box then I just stash it in the basement until another day!
This is our dining room.
This is my kitchen. I love it!
Living room (I should have closed the door to my master bedroom because I was washing my sheets that day! oops)
The front of the house
And here's our backyard. Love the view, I never get tired of looking at those mountains!
I've said it before and I'll say it many more times to come but we are
SOOO BLESSED!! I'm so grateful to have a home. Grateful to have a place where we can create memories, build testimonies and to make this next stage of our lives enriching and fulfilling.
