The cast is no more

Miah has been counting down the days with excitement and nervousness, I have just been counting down how many sponge baths I had left to give her with great rejoicing! She's had a lot of anxiety about getting the cast off because she's been so worried about how it was going to look. Well, the day finally arrived and here's how it played out.
I signed the phrase "NO MORE CAST" right before we left for the Doctor, then we were on our way.
We had to have chocolate chip pancakes with a sausage at the hospital cafeteria before we went in. This is what she got to have the morning before her surgery so it became tradition. They have the nicest cook who made her breakfast so cute!
This was Lenny cutting off the cast. Miah was sooooo mad at me for taking pictures. She was screaming "NO PICTURES MOM!" Sorry Miah, but you'll thank me later.
Here's Miah with Dr. Hall. He was so nice, Miah really liked him, and I think he did a great job. Miah was very clear that I could only take this picture of their heads, no arm! It looked very dirty and flaky, and skinny so she asked for an ace bandage to cover it up for the ride home.
Once we got it home we got it all clean and smooth with soap and lotion, she started to relax a little. It took a full 24 hours but today she took the ace bandage off! This is huge for her because she's been so nervous that people are going to make fun of her for having a funny looking arm. I guess she decided it looks OK now and is letting me take pictures.
Way to go Miah! To celebrate we're pulling the kids out of school next week to take a trip down to South Padre Island to relax at the beach! I can't wait for some fun in the sun and no more sponge baths!

That Miah, she's a cute one. I love her face while it was being cut off...the cast that is. I love reading your blog but it always makes me a little sad. We are supposed to be neighbors! Have fun on your Vacay!

Yay for Miah!! And I know just how she felt about her arm. My leg looks yucky right now, and it made me feel good to see how pretty Miah's arm is. My goal is that my leg (when it's all better) will look just as good as Miah's arm!!

Her arm looks great! And I don't know how it could possibly look any skinnier than the other one...I can't wait to see your beach pics!
