This morning I told Abbey if she scored a goal in her game I'd pay her $5. She's only ever scored one goal before and I missed it. She had been playing goalie for 3 quarters and I was bored of watching her just stand there (her team was dominating). She fianally agreed to play forward for the last quarter and she played awesome! With just minutes left in the game she totally scored a goal and earned her $5!! Such a proud Mama moment.

Then an hour later I told Miah the same thing, that I'd pay her $5 if she scored a goal. I'm Miah's coach so I especially get into her games and she hadn't scored a goal yet this season. She's a great dribbler but 1st grade soccer is still just mob ball so it's tough for her break away from the swarms of girls. But again, with just minutes left in the game our team was up by one and Miah breaks away and scores!!! Why didn't I think of bribery sooner?

Not to leave Ethan out I have to explain that he is playing Volleyball this season and he's the only boy on a team full of girls (brave kid). His team is really good and they usually win but I can't really pay him for every point he makes or I'd go broke. Well, the kids also got report cards this week. We don't always pay them for their grades, but Ethan totally got straight A's this quarter so I'm forking out $5 for him too!

Ellie doesn't really care about money yet, but she does care about candy. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can wean her off the candy reward that she gets every time she goes potty? She's going to have cavities for sure!

being dental-minded people we did a sticker chart to potty train Bella. once all the boxes are full she gets to pick a prize from my closet or go to target and get something from the $1 section. maybe that will work, though candy motivates ME more:) good luck:)
I bribe my kids in sports all the time....Usually 1 dime every time they touch the ball in soccer (it gets them into the mob a bit more). I weaned Abrielle off the potty M & M's by letting her pick a toy she really really wanted (a singing nighttime Dora doll) We put it on the fridge so we would see it and say hi to it every day. Then I made a sticker chart and she earned stickers every time she went potty. There were 4 rows of 6 sticker spot. At the end of each row was a little prize -- ice cream cone, trip to a special park, trip to Java jungle...then at the end of the chart was the Dora picture. She earned the Big Dora doll when she filled the whole chart.....
Maybe only but the candy that Ellie doesn't like??? (unless she's like me and there ISN'T a candy I don't like!!!)
Love it! I remember Mom bribing me to practice the piano when I was little. I think those were the only times I ever practiced! It totaly works! Ask Ellie what she would want besides candy? If she picks it out I bet it would work, but who am i to give potty training advice...I keep putting it off with Kaylie even though I think she's ready. I just tell myself we'll dive into it after the Holidays are over!
Way to go kids!!! You guys are doing a great job! How about giving Ellie a dime - it adds up and then she can go shopping. Girls love to shop!
Have you tried a sticker chart? I did that with Afton. I would let her choose something that she wanted, printed a picture of it and put in on the top of the chart. It worked for her! Good luck Sheryl!
