Here goes.........

1. I canned 36 jars of tomatoes this week. I have to laugh at this because when I was young I vowed that I would never can anything when I grew up because I hated helping my Mom with it. Even still I don't enjoy it and only attempt it about every 6 years, but here's the proof:

This is only half of them but they look pretty good don't they? We got them from a local farm who promised that they didn't have Salmonella. Let's hope those people aren't liars.

2. I have recently taken up Wake boarding. I had to do this to balance out the "cool factor" in my life after canning tomatoes :). No really, I've been a pretty good slalom skier most of my life and have been reluctant to switch over to the dark side, but now I'm glad I have. It's a lot of fun and Dallas is a good teacher. This picture is not me, we don't have any shots of me yet, but doesn't that look like fun?

This has also been good for Dallas and I's relationship because of all the hobbies that he's latched himself onto, this is the only one that I'm able to do with him and the kids together.
The other fun exercise that I've been getting recently is playing Indoor Soccer. My friend Stephanie invited me to play on a 3-vs-3 Woman's team on Thursday nights and it is so much fun! Back in the day I played a lot, but it's been a while. Just trying to stay young!

3. I love reading novels but totally didn't love it in High School. I was a flop in High School English and still stink at Grammar. I didn't like reading what other people told me to read (prideful little girl), so when I finally discovered reading for myself, I loved it and couldn't stop! I was super good at Math though and passed the Calculus AP test with flying colors. And my Math score on the ACT saved me because my Reading Comprehension score was soooo low. Speaking of High School, here's a funny story about me, I was kind of a girl jock and all the Coaches/History teachers liked me. So Coach Hatch taught my Drivers Ed class and gave me my final driving test on my Birthday, I was moments away from being a licenced driver.... Well, I somehow failed the test by only a few points, on my Birthday might I remind you. I got him to show me what he'd marked me down for and I disputed "going over that bump too fast" and I got him to change the score and pass me!! I really am a good driver now, but I guess that was questionable back then. Too funny.

4. I've had two premature babies under 4 lbs. A lot of you know this about me already but it's something I relive whenever I hear of it happening to someone else. I had Abbey at 35 weeks after a failed a non-stress test on Sept. 6th 2000. I was sitting in a room waiting for the Dr. to come in and tell me I could go home, but when he came in he had 3 other Doctors with him and he said "we need to get your baby here right now". 30 minutes later Abbey was born and she was whisked away to the NICU before I could even see her. Dallas missed it by 5 minute, they wouldn't wait because of the severity of the situation. They brought me a little Polaroid of her face that I kept on my pillow. Abbey was a miracle, the Dr. said if one more day had gone by she would have been a stillborn birth. I thank God for that Doctor's decision that day, he saved her life.
My pregnancy with Miah was similar, she was born at 36 weeks, a week more than Abbey, but she was 4 ounces smaller, 3lbs 11oz.! Abbey had stayed in the NICU for 4 weeks but Miah only stayed for 1 week. They sent her home with us before she was even 4 pounds with a feeding tube in her nose since we knew how to manage that (we'd done it with Abbey). They both had awesome lungs and recovered quite quickly from their stressful entry into this world.

5. I have been cured of an incurable disease. When Dallas and I were first married I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, nasty stuff. Basically that's when your immune system is out of whack so it attacks your colon causing ulcers and major problems. Dr.'s tell you that there is no cure for this condition but they would be happy to prescribe plenty of steroids to mask what ever symptoms you might be experiencing, duh. Right after I had Abbey I found a web site that introduced a new pill that was only available on line and was super expensive. Of course we were sceptical and researched thoroughly before we tried it, it was called AMP. It's a specific Molecule extracted from Aloe put into a very highly concentrated pill, and it claims to balance out your immune system. No side effects, totally natural, and it left out the part of Aloe that can actually be harmful to your gut. Too good to be true? Nope, It totally worked. I've been in remission for about 6 years. I still take 2 a day and will for the rest of my life. Check it out at http://ampfloracel.com/

Don't let the ladies lovely hair do dissuade you from believing me, this stuff rocks!

6. Don't worry, this is almost over. Last but not least I will share with you that I hate talking on the phone. I am so grateful that I live in the age of email and blogs. I've figured out why it's hard for me too, it's because on the phone I don't handle interruptions from my kids very well, I'm trying so hard to listen to whom ever it is I'm talking to that I just shove the kidos away when they need me. It's so much easier to be interrupted in an email. I'm serving as the ward Primary President right now and I can honestly say that this job would be 10 times harder without relying on email. Trying to catch people home, leaving phone messages and waiting for call backs when you happen to be in the middle of making dinner is totally over rated. Besides the fact that I forget to check the answering machine every day so my messages are typically a few days old. I'm pretty embarrassed to admit how many times a day I check my email though, it's a lot. On the other hand I get so excited when I find an old friend's blog from someone else's blog and then connect to 5 other old friends through that blog, what a great way to stay connected. I will say that the one person I still need a good ol' phone conversation with is my sister Julie, she is so fun to talk with that I make time to do that. That doesn't mean that I don't love the rest of you, I do, and I thank you for forgiving me for not calling you in sooo long.

Ok, now I tagg Danielle Lindorf, Kristen Huber and Laurissa Murrow, my old Co. Springs buddies!! Thanks for reading.

Good luck.

Ok, you had me laughing, crying, laughing, and then crying again! Laughing at what a hot momma you are for canning those tomatoes, and then feeling the need for speed on the wake board to balance it all out :). Can you believe that I never knew that you first failed your driving test! I was laughing so hard, I can see you now- using your skills to persuade the teacher to pass you! and a second later I was crying remembering about little angel Abbey and her story of miracles- seeing those little pictures of her literally brought tears to my eyes. Love you Abbey! And then laughing again, because I can hear your voice in my head making that comment about that lady's 80's hair do! And then crying again, because I miss you TONS and loved the picture you posted of us. Ok, I am going to get the phone to call you RIGHT NOW for my daily dose of Sheryl! Luv ya big sista!!!!

Sheryl! I'm so excited that you found my blog! You totally look the same as you did 11 years ago and you've had a whole litter of kids! I had forgotten that you had your girls early...Isabel also came a bit early at 27 weeks. I'll have to get a somewhat cute picture of my family so you can see us. I will totally stay in touch with ya'll. We are hoping to get to San Antonio next year for my national convention for athletic training. I don't know where you live in Texas but we are hoping to make it a family vacation...granted that's 12 months away! Awesome on the wakeboarding!

Ok, I don't know why I'm commenting on this so late, but I loved reading about you! Just for the record, I've always thought you were cool even with out the wakeboarding and even knowing about the canning! And it made me feel better knowing that I'm not the only one who hates talking on the phone.
